Mazin Albahkali is the CEO of SPPC-Principal Buyer, which is responsible for all public tenders of renewable & conventional power generation plants in Saudi Arabia. As CEO, Mr. Mazin leads one of the world’s most ambitious energy transition programs in both size and technological advancement, involving nearly all the leading players in energy infrastructure building.

Under Mr. Mazin, SPPC-Principal Buyer also acts as off-taker to all IPPs in the Kingdom, is solely responsible for the cross-border trading of power, and is a key player in the KSA’s strategy for Hydrogen production and Nuclear energy supply. SPPC-Principal Buyer is chaired by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Minister of Energy.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mazin served as the EVP of Strategic Planning and Business Development for Principal Buyer’s sister company, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), where he helped drive growth with new and diversified investments and beyond-meter consumer services, responsible for aligning the company’s strategic performance objectives with the KSA energy sector and Vision2030.

In the private sector, Mr. Mazin served as CEO to GE Power Services, KSA & Bahrain, at a time of exponential growth for the company in the MENA market. Earlier, on behalf of GE Power, he led sales & marketing efforts in MENA & Turkey for its grid business. He is considered one of the regions leading practitioners and expert in future energy and power supply.

Mr. Mazin holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in the USA and a BS in Electrical Engineering from King Saud University, KSA.
