Dr.  Alfred Hase is a Senior RD&E Group Leader in Flow Assurance at SLB based in Aberdeen, with over 25 years of experience in petroleum chemistry and flow assurance technologies. He leads a multi-regional team across the Eastern Hemisphere and Asia Pacific, supporting product lines including low-dosage hydrate inhibitors, paraffin, asphaltenes, and H₂S scavengers, while driving innovation in environmentally acceptable and high-performance chemical solutions. He has played a key role in developing new products, supporting global sales and marketing through technical expertise, and contributing to award-nominated technologies such as combined KHI/H₂S scavenger solutions. Prior to this, he held leadership roles within SLB, where he established a state-of-the-art gas hydrate testing laboratory in Aberdeen and expanded hydrate inhibitor and gas treatment capabilities across the region. His earlier career includes senior research and development positions at Clariant and the German Petroleum Institute, where he contributed to research on gas hydrates and asphaltenes. Dr Hase holds a PhD in petroleum science and engineering and an MSc in chemistry, and he has authored numerous technical publications, participated in international industry committees, and contributed to patents in flow assurance chemistry.
