Yoshinori Kanehana has served as Chairman of Kawasaki Heavy Industries since June 2020. He brings over 29 years of experience in senior operational and executive roles across heavy industry, including railcar manufacturing, with assignments in Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Under his leadership, the company completed the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain Pilot Project in February 2022, enabling the world’s first international transportation of liquefied hydrogen. The Vessel, SUISO FRONTIER, completed 3 times round trip between Australia and Japan, demonstrating stable maritime hydrogen transport. This achievement marked a major milestone in building global hydrogen supply chains. Kanehana also served as Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council from January 2022 to June 2024, supporting international collaboration to promote hydrogen as a key solution for the transition to clean energy. He continues to guide Kawasaki’s strategic vision, strengthening innovation, partnerships, and sustainable growth while advancing global energy transition initiatives worldwide efforts.
