BIO

Tomoaki Ichida has been an Executive Officer of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) since April 2022, responsible for the Energy Business Strategy Division, Bunker Business Division and Integrated Liquefied Gas Transport & Offshore Projects - Liquefied Gas Unit 1 (Responsible for LPG & Ammonia Business). He also holds the post of General Manager of Energy Business Strategy Division. In addition to his position in MOL, he also leads a venture company called “e5 Lab Inc.” as President. This venture company aims to develop and promote electrification and digitalization in the shipping industry.

He joined MOL in 1992 and began his career in the Human Resources division . After a couple of
months , he was moved to the Container Ships business and worked there for about 9 years including a 4 year stint serving at MOL s subsidiary in Thailand .

In 2001 , he returned to MOL Tokyo head quarters and was placed in charge of the Human Resources division. In 2004 he was transferred to the Tanker Division and started his career in the Energy Business section He was given a managerial role in charge of chartering, operation, and fleet planning of the Methanol Tankers and Clean Product Tankers business. During this period, he was seconded to an MOL subsidiary in London in 2011 and was appointed as General Manager in the Tanker Division. Following this, he was seconded to Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd . In 2018 and assigned as General Manager of the Corporate Planning Division. He established e5 Lab Inc. in 2019 during his time at Asahi Tanker Co., Lt d.
In 2020, he returned to MOL Tokyo headquarters and took the position of General Manger of the Energy Business Strategy Division, and in 2022 he was newly appointed as an Executive Officer of MOL.
He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce, Keio University in March 1992.
