Takehiko Kikuchi is Senior Fellow and Chief Regional Officer for Asia Pacific and India at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Chairman at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific (MHI-AP). Based in Singapore, he oversees MHI Group and MHI-AP’s businesses, which provide cross-industry solutions in energy and infrastructure that support sustainable growth across key markets in the region. These include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, India and Australia.
With over 30 years of global sales and management experience, Kikuchi started his career at MHI in 1988 at the Yokohama Dockyard & Machinery Works. In 1991, he moved to the Air- Conditioning & Refrigeration Systems department, where he focused on domestic sales, marketing, product development for residential-use air-conditioning systems and exports to European markets and Commonwealth Independent State (CIS) countries.
He then moved to London in 2009 to oversee the air-conditioning business in Europe and CIS countries and led the establishment of “MHI Air-Conditioning Europe (MHIAE)” in 2013 to strengthen the business in the region.
He was appointed as Managing Director of MHIAE, where he expanded product offerings for the region to include heat pumps and drove the localization of residential air-conditioners in collaboration with an Italian industrial art designer. Kikuchi returned to Japan as Sales Director of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd. in 2017. He was appointed President of MHI Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Corporation in 2018, where he focused on domestic sales and oversaw the company’s post-merger integration following its merger across three entities in 2015.
In 2022, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Business Strategy Office at MHI and a year later, Head of the Business Strategy Office and Vice President of Logistics, Thermal & Drive Systems. In these roles, he leveraged his global expertise and played a vital role in shaping the company's business strategy.
Kikuchi graduated from Tohoku Gakuin University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
